Q: What is a zip line?

A zip line is the generic term for what White River Zip Lines is all about. A zip line is fixed cable suspended between two poles or trees. Riders use a pulley to ride the zip line from one side to the other. Riding a zip line is about the closest thing you’ll experience to actually flying through the air like a bird!

Q: What if I’ve never been on a zip line before?

Don’t worry - we specialize in servicing first-time riders.

Your guides will be there during the entire process to ensure you receive proper equipment fitting, proper training and proper guidance during your entire flight.

Just follow your guide’s directions and you’ll do fine.

Q: What do I wear?

You may wear shorts or pants, but always dress for the weather.

Due to safety concerns, you must wear closed toed shoes on the course.

In case of rain, bring a poncho or outer jacket/shell.

Q: What are the age, weight and fitness requirements and restrictions?

Riders from age 8 to 100 are welcome at our course. If you can climb stairs, then you’re fit enough to ride our zip lines.

However, be prepared on the day of your adventure. Do not fly on an empty stomach and stay hydrated before and during your flight.

All riders must weigh between 70 and 275 pounds.

Our guides will do their best to accommodate any unsupervised minors. However, all riders must follow the safety instructions from our guides or they will be escorted off the course, without a refund.

Zip lining is not appropriate for those with heart conditions, recent bone or joint injuries or pregnant women.

Riders who are under the influence or impairment of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to fly.

Q: When does White River Zip Lines operate?

Effective November 13th 2018, we will be closed for the season.

Our course is open every day during the spring, fall and summer seasons.

Private Flights for groups of 8 or more are available year-round, 7 days a week. Please call us at 317-489-3732 or use our Group Reservation Request form to book your Private Flight today.

Zip line flights fill up fast, so reservations are highly recommended.

Q: Do I need to make a reservation?

** Effective November 13th, we will be closing for the season **

Zip line flights fill up fast, so reservations are highly recommended.

Walk-ups are welcome, but we cannot guarantee you a seat on one of our flights without a reservation.

Q. What time do we need to arrive upon the day of our departure?

We ask that guests arrive 30 minutes prior to their flight time to allow enough time for proper equipment fitting and briefing at our ground school.

You can save time at registration by filling out your waiver online

Q: What if I show up late for our zip line flight?

Like a plane flight, we do not give refunds for late arrivals. If you arrive late, and we have to start the flight without you, we’ll do our best to put you on a later flight if possible.

However, we ask that you arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled flight.

Q: What is your reservation and cancellation policy?

Customers may re-schedule their flight at no charge with at least 48 hours notice. Customers who rebook less than 48 hours before their flight will incur a $20 administrative fee per ticket.

Refunds are NOT provided in the event of cancellation or re-scheduling within 48 hours of the scheduled flight, rider weighing less than 70 pounds or more than 275 pounds, rider impaired or intoxicated by drugs or alcohol, rider deciding not to partake in flight due to fear of heights, medical issues, etc., riders showing up late, or not at all, for their flight or rain, snow or shine.

We zip in the rain, snow or shine. Zip line cancellations due to lightning, blizzards or unsafe weather conditions are at the sole discretion of White River Zip Lines. Due to our inability to control the weather (we're working on it), refunds are not provided in event of dangerous weather but, we will make every attempt to get you onto our course after the inclement weather passes. If we can’t, a rain check will be provided.

We reserve the right to combine, re-book or cancel (with a full refund) groups of less than 3 customers in order to maximize guide scheduling resources.

Q: What can we bring with us on the flight?

You will be provided with a full body harness and climbing helmet for your flight.

We recommend that you do not take any valuables (including phones, wallets, keys, etc.) with you on the course. If you should drop one of these items, they may not be able to be recovered.

White River Zip Lines is not responsible for lost or damaged personal items taken onto the course.

Lockers are provided at the facility. Please bring your own lock, or, leave your valuables in your car and we’ll watch your car keys while you’re on the course.

Q: If I’m not planning on participating in the tour, is there an area I can stay to watch my friends/family?

Our registration and equipment pro-shop has ample seating for those who are not participating.

Unfortunately, we do not have any seating or spectator areas in the zip lining area at this time.

Q: Do you have bathrooms on site?

Our registration and equipment pro-shop has flush restrooms for both men and women available on-site. However, don’t forget to use the restroom before you start your flight, as there aren’t any restrooms on the course itself.

Q: Do you have concessions on-site?

Yes - our registration and equipment pro-shop has a complete line of drinks, chips, snacks and more.

Q: How long do flights (tours) last?

The exact time per flight can vary greatly due to the size of the group, the wind, the weather and the number of total riders currently on the course.

However, the First Class Flight normally takes 2.5 to 3 hours.

Q: How safe is zip lining?

Zip lining is an extremely safe activity as long as all of the proper rules are followed. All riders must follow the safety instructions from our expert guides or they will be escorted off the course, without a refund.

White River Zip Lines has decided to set the gold standard for zip line course construction and management in the Central Indiana area:

  • The course was fully designed by a licensed engineer to adhere to all industry standards for maximum loads and forces
  • The course was constructed by a highly experienced zip line fabricator (ABEE Inc.) meeting or exceeding industry standard construction
  • Specially designed construction materials specific to the zip line industry were used in the fabrication of the zip line course to ensure the highest quality possible
  • Each of our guides receive a rigorous, ACCT derived training program to fully prepare them for any scenario they may encounter
  • Daily inspections of both aerial and ground elements take place before a single customer takes flight
  • Full body harnesses and climbing helmets are provided to each participant. These are the same harnesses used by utility workers for industrial fall protection and are each rated to hold several thousand pounds. Each customer is personally fitted by our expert guides to ensure a snug, safe fit

Trust White River Zip Lines for a safe, adventurous day of zip lining fun!

Q: How long is the course? How many elements?

There are over a mile of zip lines on our course, including 4 dual “racing” zip lines.

The course has a total of 8 zip line segments and 3 Sky Bridges, including a 1,000 foot MEGA Dual Racing Zip!

Please visit our Course Info page for more information.

Q: Is your staff trained to run zip lines?

White River Zip Lines takes pride in our guides, as they are the heart of our facility.

To ensure our guides are prepared for any situation, each of our guides receive a rigorous, ACCT derived training program.

Q: Do I need to tip the staff?

Tips are graciously accepted if you feel you had an outstanding time with your guides.

Q: What about photos?

We offer a digital photo package, starting at $8 per person.

This package includes multiple digital photos of each rider, taken by our expert guides.

Click here for a sampling of some of the amazing photos taken on our course.

Q: How did you decide what to charge?

Not all zip lines tours are created equal. What is really scary is that zip lines are NOT regulated in the State of Indiana. Instead, each zip line company must “self regulate”.

White River Zip Lines has been built on a 15 year track history of excellent customer safety, pioneered by our sister business White River Paintball. We have taken the stance that customer safety and course safety are our first priority.

The cost of your zip line flight reflects the costs to inspect the course every day, before a single customer takes flight, along with regular preventative maintenance and 3rd party inspections, all of which are voluntary for each zip line within Indiana.

Our equipment is “full-body”, and each set is specially made and designed specifically for our zip line course. Each set has a cost of several hundred dollars, and must be replaced regularly to ensure no element is worn past its useful life.

Our towers and course are, likewise, engineered to withstand several times the normal stress of zip lining. We used new construction materials for the entire project, including industry standard Class 2 Southern Pine poles.

We spared no expense to bring you best and safest zip line course in Central Indiana.
